Hello,

a bit about me:

Dr. Jasmine "Jae'D" Hines (pronounced Jay-Dee) is a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, songwriter, researcher, and educator. A Southern-born creative shaped by the sounds of Augusta, Georgia, and Raleigh, North Carolina, she now calls Boston home—though her musical ideation still carries the soul of gospel choirs and the groove of Southern funk.

Jae’D began her musical journey with percussion at just six years old, later expanding to piano before fully embracing her passion for vocal music at 15—a path she’s followed ever since. She holds a Bachelor of Music Education (Choral Sequence) from Georgia Southern University, as well as both a Master’s and Ph.D. in Music Education from the University of Florida.

Though classically trained, her music, teaching, and research center on popular and cultural folk traditions. She believes these sounds—woven from everyday stories and cultural memory—reveal what it means to be human, offering transcendence, connection, joy, and community through shared musical experiences.
